Bachinger looks back on a successful career as a Creative Director in the international advertising industry. This professional background strongly influences his art, as he utilizes and questions techniques of visual communication, symbolism, and consumer aesthetics.

Since leaving the advertising business, he has dedicated himself entirely to fine art and photography. He operates a studio in Vienna and has also worked in New York City, where he was part of the Con Artist Collective.

His art often reflects the “American Dream” and the impact of the advertising world on the subconscious. Ernst Bachinger integrates elements of Colorfield Painting into his Color Compositions, although he usually combines them with other styles.

In many of his works, large monochrome or subtly nuanced color fields serve as a stage for his graphic symbols. These surfaces create the spatial depth and meditative effect characteristic of his Color Composition works.

In addition to his iconographic works, he creates abstract paintings in which the emotional impact of pure color takes center stage — a core characteristic of Colorfield Painting.
Credo: Form follows color.
